FAQ
Common questions
What should my ZIP file contain?
Each dataset should contain an SHP file and a matching DBF file. You can also include common Shapefile sidecar files such as SHX, PRJ and CPG.
Can I convert multiple SHP files at once?
Yes. A ZIP archive can contain multiple SHP datasets. By default they can be combined into one DWG on separate layers, or you can enable "Create separate DWG for each SHP" to receive separate DWG files.
Are Shapefile attributes preserved?
Yes. DBF attributes are written to the resulting DWG as XData. You can also select DBF fields to create visible CAD labels.
Why is the DBF file required?
The DBF file contains the attribute table associated with the SHP dataset. SHP2DWG reads the DBF schema and attributes so they can be preserved in the DWG and selected fields can be used as visible labels.
Are Z and M geometries supported?
Yes. SHP2DWG supports the supported Point, MultiPoint, PolyLine and Polygon Shapefile geometry types, including their Z and M variants.
What happens to uploaded files?
Uploaded archives are processed in a temporary workspace used for the conversion job and are removed when that job finishes.
